Riverside and APPE Board Chair.

The meeting was supported by the Arsht Ethics Initiatives.

The APPE, established more than 30 years ago, is an inter- and multidisciplinary professional and educational organization. The meeting included representatives from the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation. A goal of the meeting was to improve and refine federal requirements for instruction in the Responsible Conduct of Research.

Two graduate students from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine’s Program in Biomedical Sciences (PIBS) were included as rapporteurs to document several small-group sessions:

  • Megan Barber |  Mentor: John Burnett
  • Betty Nugba | Mentor: Martin Rivas

Their work will be used to compile a report of the meeting, apparently the first-ever of its kind.
